Lockdown has been challenging for many businesses. Navigating new ways of working and continuing to reach out to clients has been part of this.
However, lockdown is not necessarily the moment to have expected to receive good news. Milly J Shoes has been made a finalist for Footwear Designer of the Year in the very prestigious Drapers awards. With judges including Adidas CEOS, Clarks, Schuh and many more.

There is something very powerful about coming together and collaborating with local fellow businesses. We are all in the business sector, not least the wedding sector and realise the importance of creating a cohesive project that benefits all involved and beyond.
The Maids Head Hotel, England's oldest hotel is no stranger to weddings and so organised a photoshoot with local brides. I hope you'd agree that the finished project looks great!
Businesses involved included:
The Maids Head Hotel
Milly J Shoes
Just Big Smiles Photography
Elizabeths The Florists
Ana Sofia Moniz
Electric Frolic 31
The Maids Head 1963 Bentley

I was very lucky to be interviewed on the BBC Look East News couch alongside fellow soloist, Emma Nuule. The slot was hosted by BBC stalwarts, Stewart White and Amelia Reynolds, discussing our night of performance and singing for the Mudeka Foundation.
It was a dash from the studios to the stage for the night's performance however!

As a speaker for schools, I was contacted by St Mary's High School in Croydon to help inspire 130 teenage girls. My first impression was my amazement at seeing only 9 white faces in the sea of expectant faces. It certainly wasn't a diverse school in terms of ethnic diversity.
St Mary's is considered an inner city school and is headed by a remarkable priciple who prides herself on offering her students other avenues in which to take their lives. Hence my invitation. I am always thrilled to do occasions such as this, as in my opinion, it is the schools such as these that need the inspiration to break free from routes that many would think are already set for them.

A great course was had yesterday at The British leather Centre and John Lobb headquarters.
To be surrounded by individuals who took the utmost pride in their work was actually quite inspiring and that's how it should be. Taking such care and precision for the end result. The over 100 year old John Lobb shoe brand is steeped in tradition with a pair setting you back at a mere £1000! Though you can now see why.
The course covered aspects from lasting to leather work right through to packaging.
Thank you to the British Footwear Association for organsing the course and content.

This really is an honour and to be honest, there are far more inspiring and aspiring women out there than myself. Though none the less, last night, I received an invite from Pinky Linani OBE last night to join her invitation only and exclusive, Women of the Future Network.
The Women of the Future Network (previously Inspirational Women’s Network) is an exclusive network of high potential and high achieving UK women. The network was created in 2007 and includes some of the UK’s most pioneering and talented women. *Thier words - not mine!
Thank you for this.

So pleased to announce that her efforts have once again been noticed by Theo Paphitis. Two years ago, Milly J Shoes won its first business award from the man himself. That was indeed a grand moment and Milly J became one of Theo's, SBS Award Winners. SBS awards small business owners and is a great platform for businesses to gain the support from the famous ex, Dragon's Den Dragon and business tycoon. This time, Milly was alerted that Theo has now chosen her as this month's, Business of the Month. This is great, as it means Milly J Shoes is still on the tycoon's radar! Thank you to Mr. P!
